RAFBF-BOB-Cycle-8-Jan_1The RAF Benevolent Fund invites you to join them on ‘The RAF Benevolent Fund Battle of Britain Cycle Challenge 2016′ from Paris to Geneva, taking place in September 2016 marking the 76th anniversary of the end of the Battle of Britain.

Setting off from Paris and travelling across pretty French countryside and through the Jura Mountains into Switzerland, this spectacular route is split across four amazing days’ cycling with an average of 91 miles a day.

An important note about booking your place

Please note, to book your place, you will need to pay a non-refundable administration fee (plus raise a minimum of £1200 in sponsorship money for the RAF Benevolent Fund.)  There are two different prices: 1) for Individual cyclists and 2) for Teams of 4+ cyclists    Please select the appropriate ticket below.

Itinerary


5th Sept - Arrival day to Paris

On the 5th September, we will all travel to Paris from London via the Eurostar where we will be met at the hotel by the Ride25 team with the bikes. After a good night's sleep, we will be ready to embark on our cycling adventure the following day. (Please note, that the evening meal is not included on arrival day).
6th Sept - Paris to Sens
6th Sept - Paris to Sens
Setting off outside 'Les Invalides', we will follow the Seine out of Paris to the southeast to the historic Fontainebleau for lunch. Our route will cover lots of cycle paths along the beautiful river and through various forests. In the afternoon we will enjoy well-surfaced, fast roads and French beautiful countryside before staying in Sens for the night.
7th Sept - Sens to Semur-en-Auxois

After an early start we will cycle along lovely quiet roads before stopping in Chablis. We will cover more peaceful roads after lunch before arriving in the medieval town of Semur-en-Auxois in the evening.
8th Sept - Semur-en-Auxois to Lons-le-Saunier

Up and out nice and early, we will follow the Burgundy canal before having lunch in Nuits St George. The afternoon offers fairly flat paths before arriving in the small Roman Spa town of Lons-le-Saunier for the night.
9th Sept - Lons-le-Saunier to Geneva

We will kick-start the final stage with a steep climb to get us limbered up for the day ahead. We will then cross the Jura Mountains into Switzerland with a seven mile long climb of over 1200m. A beautiful and fast descent to Lake Geneva will be the perfect end to the ride before celebrating by the lakeside and with a well-deserved meal.

Please note that your return travel is not included in the trip and you will need to arrange your own flights and transfers. You will also need to hire a bike box (we will provide information on this via our partners - our tour crew will also help you put your bike in your bike box should you require assistance.)

What's Included


  • Five nights’ accommodation in a clean, comfortable hotel (in Paris, Sens, Semur-en-Auxois, Lons-le-Saunier and Geneva). All rooms will have twin beds and we will allocate you a room partner unless you specify who you would like to share with. (You may select a single supplement for an extra £250 in the booking process if you prefer not to share a room)
  • Eurostar train ticket from London to Paris
  • Three meals a day plus stops for snacks (please note that your meal on your arrival day in Paris is not included)
  • Coffee/tea and cake at designated coffee stops
  • Support vehicle to transport your luggage (clothes and supplies) from each stage to the next
  • Back-up vehicles to provide you with medical help and any assistance should you need a rest
  • A digital map in the format of a .gpx file for mobile navigation devices such as Garmin
  • Customised, waterproof route maps including essential directions, pitstops and interesting information on the area
  • Two new, bespoke high quality breathable cycling shirts for use on your trip
  • Daily fresh fruit and water in the support vehicles
  • Celebratory dinner in Paris
  • Transportation of your bike from Geneva back to a central London collection point (please indication whether you would like to take advantage of this during the booking process)

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED?

  • Flights and transfers from Geneva to UK
  • Accommodation the night before the tour commences
  • A bike
  • A bike box (this can be selected as an optional extra via one of our partners and our Ride25 crew will help you put your bike in the box if you require assistance). Please note there is an option for us to transport your bike back from Geneva to London in one of the Ride25 vans (please indicate your preference in the booking process)
  • Personal insurance
